single block allocation
We believe the vineyard to be the story of the wine; a cultivated plot crafted into a unique experience. Consider that elevation and wind thicken the skins of the grapes. Soil and site enhance the delicate balance of minerality and floral aromatics. And while a vineyard might spread across acres of land, there are ecosystems that lie within micro-climates that provide for alluring characteristics. Our Single Block Wines are offered to you in allocated lots, each from a great site within a great vineyard.

sauvignon blanc lower dry creek block
-
Our first ever standalone Sauvignon Blanc and from our home vineyard, this is the most full-throttle white wine we’ve yet made. Barrel-fermented, tense and layered, it’s a generous companion to our Sauvignon Blanc blend, Albus. Fit for the cellar or tonight’s lobster dinner.
Displaying the Sauvignon’s more savory and mineral-driven personality, this wine spouts wet stone, flint, struck rock, and rye grasses. As secondary notes, D’anjou pear and apricot bring a layer of fruit to the rock party. On the palate, the wine presents a beautiful structure. Racy acid, polished phenolics, and some shaping from ageing in barrel all contribute to a wine with serious length, drive, and a layered mouthfeel. Through the midpalate and the finish, flavors of citrus, yellow peach, and tangerine skin mingle with an unmistakable impression of wet stone.

syrah block 50

Block 50 is most often a massive wine, so much so that we routinely call it “the beast”. It’s the product of an extraordinary trellising experiment gone wrong. Planted some decades ago on the highest spot of the great Les Collines Vineyard, Block 50 produces the tiniest clusters in ridiculous profusion and the wines that it gives are powerful and savory, with tapenade competing for attention with all the black and blue fruits.
While Les Collines Collines Vineyard Syrah Block 50 is usually a blender in our Walla Walla Valley Les Collines Vineyard Syrah, in 2022 Block 50 was so distinctly different that we wanted it bottled separately. If Block 49 is the beauty, Block 50 is the beast.

cabernet sauvignon block 03
-
Block 3 is, to our taste, the sweet spot of Seven Hills Vineyard for Cabernet Sauvignon, partly because it is several decades old. There’s no simple way to guarantee it, but many of the world’s great wines are the result of older vines, so that’s part of the beauty of Block 3. It helps too that it’s planted to Cabernet Clone 6, a shy bearing clone that creates dense and inspiring wines.
Seven Hills Vineyard Block 03 is planted entirely to Cabernet Clone 6. It’s notoriously stingy and low-yielding with stunning and exhilarating fruit. To us, this complex Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon demands its own bottling, showing intensity married with grace.
